A girl's iron requirements increase dramatically during adolescence making them more susceptible to anaemia, which has a lasting negative impact not only for their development and health, but also for the survival and growth of their children later in life. India has one of the highest prevalence, with an estimated 60% of adolescent girls considered anaemic.
We work with L&T to provide much needed haemoglobin testing camps for adolescent girls in slum areas and other underprivileged areas. Those found to be affected are provided free medication for up to 3 months, including follow-up tests and tracking, as well as recommended further action.
